These young (1,5 - 2 year old) reindeers are from Lohiniva, part of Rovaniemi. I wanted to honor these animals for creating works of interior art from their skulls, otherwise would have been trashed.

Reindeer and people have a connection that is thousands of years old in what is today called Finland. First by hunting, then through domestication and herding.

The vast majority of reindeer owners in Finland practise reindeer husbandry as a supplement to agriculture and forestry. With regard to ethnic groups in Finland, reindeer herding is from the economic point of view the most important for Sámi people.
